Gary is an MIT-trained engineer with over 15 years as a patent attorney managing, acquiring, asserting, and defending client IP rights by active collaboration with client executives, managers, and product teams to develop and execute strategies resulting in effective use of IP to achieve larger business goals. Having been a practicing engineer at Digital Equipment Corporation for ten years prior to entering the practice of law, Gary effectively collaborates closely with engineering teams and product management to prosecute successful and valuable patents.
Most recently, Gary served as in-house IP Counsel to Avid Technology, Inc. As IP Counsel, Gary aggressively researched client and counter-party business goals to successfully negotiate IP agreements yielding high return, low cost, and low risk profiles. He also built consensus among executive, product management, and engineering stakeholders to acquire and manage complete, valuable client trademark portfolios defining client brand identity.
Prior to his service as an in-house counsel, Gary was in private practice, first with Wolf, Greenfield & Sacks, PC, and later with Lando & Anastasi, LLP.
Gary holds a BSEE from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a JD from Suffolk University Law School. Gary has a working knowledge of a wide range of technologies and high tech industries, including software, electronics, new media, medical devices, food and beverage preparation equipment, telecommunications equipment and materials, disk drives and components, thin film microwave susceptors, and thin film electrical and electronic components.
