Kenneth F. Kozik is a registered patent attorney with 20+ years of intellectual property law experience, including patents, copyrights, trademarks, litigation support, due diligence and licensing. This includes experience in evaluating and formulating strategies for protecting software, network, optical, mechanical, Internet and business method technologies, patent opinions (i.e., non-infringement, invalidity, due diligence, and so forth), and evaluation of technologies on behalf of proposed investors. Ken brings a combination of business and legal experience to his clients, having had a career as a senior software engineer for 9 years at several major technology companies prior to entering the legal profession as an patent attorney at a technology company for 8 years and later in private practice with several world-class law firms for 12+ years. As an in-house counsel, Ken was a consumer of legal services and learned what clients expect from outside counsel. When entering private practice, Ken used his in-house experience to meet client expectations by providing quality legal work product at a reasonable cost that was complemented with prudent business advice. More specifically, with the benefit of combined in-house and private practice experience, Ken's strengths and interests lie in gaining a solid understanding about his clients' businesses and goals, and providing practical and timely legal and business support to help his clients achieve their goals.Prior to joining PatentGC, Ken operated his own successful solo patent law firm, after serving as a Shareholder at Greenberg Traurig (Boston, MA), Of Counsel at Fish & Richardson (Boston, MA), and Partner at Sheehan, Phinney, Bass & Green (Manchester, NH). In private practice, Ken has been responsible for matters in support of numerous general, E-commerce and high technology clients, in transactional (e.g., prosecution, licensing, due diligence, etc.) matters and litigation support. Ken also managed patent portfolios of several large corporations and supervised patent associates and technology specialists. Ken received his BA from Saint Anselm College (mathematics and chemistry), his MS from Saint Joseph College (mathematics and chemistry) and his JD from Western New England College School of Law. Ken is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and admitted to all the state and federal courts of ME, MA, NH and VT.
